Around this time of year this is a common question asked by home owners in need of a new roof. There is actually no set temperature by the shingle manufacturers. They simply recommend not installing below 40 degrees for an easier installation. Many times the day will start out well below 40 degrees but as long as removal of old shingles is completed and shingles are installed later in the day as it warms up this will not be an issue.
Shingles will take slightly longer to seal when it is colder than in summer or spring. However shingle manufacturers also recommend not installing over 90 degrees, granted this does not void warranty either it is simply a suggestion for better working conditions.
If you are experiencing leaks or have squeaked by another year with a 17+ year old roof, don’t let Mother Nature scare you. There are still plenty of pockets left where the temperature will be above 40 degrees.
This is also a great time to take advantage of our great financing since we realize so much is already being spent on family and friends for Christmas.
